Urban Planning by Simulation of Population Growth
نویسندگان
چکیده
Urban planning is a very important issue to guarantee the sustainable development of modern towns. Many aspects must be considered and one of the most important is the population growth. Having a correct control of this phenomenon it is possible to focus the efforts, resources and investments in the right direction. To anticipate the facts and as a consequence predict the advantages and problems of the growth in a specific region this paper presents a web-based system for the simulation of the populations boom. The system uses a set of rules to predict the development in a given geographic scenario, focused on the needs for public resources such as schools, kinder gardens and public health centers. The outputs are SVG covering maps of the simulated region showing the suitability of the existing resources.

Simulation and prediction of land use and land cover change using GIS, remote sensing and CA-Markov model
This study analyzes the characteristics of land use/land cover change in Jordan’s Irbid governorate, 1984–2018, and predicts future land use/land cover for 2030 and 2050 using a cellular automata-Markov model. The results inform planners and decision makers of past and current spatial dynamics of land use/land cover change and predicted urban expansion, for a better understanding and successful...
متن کاملSimulation and Evaluation of Urban Development Scenarios Using Integration of Cellular Automata Model and Game Theory
Urban growth is a dynamic and evolutionary spatial and social process that relates to the changes of urban spatial units and the transformation of people’s lifestyles and consequently demographic changes. Considering the urban development process as a function of land uses interactions, population structure and the strategic behavior of the agents involved in the urban development process (the ...
متن کاملA Framework for Visualizing Multivariate Geodata
In urban planning, sophisticated simulation models are key tools to estimate future population growth for measuring the impact of planning decisions on urban developments and the environment. Simulated population projections usually result in bulky, large-scale, multivariate geospatial data sets. Millions of records have to be processed, stored, and visualized to help planners explore and analy...
متن کاملPopulation Growth and the Interaction of Urban Environmental Challenges, Case Study: Zahedan
During the recent decades, urban management in Iran has increasingly confronted numerous challenges due to different kinds of social, cultural, political, executive, financial, and legal factors. The present study is going to specify and analyze the aforementioned challenges in the domain of the urban environment in order to determine how far they have been effective, how they have been priorit...
متن کاملImpacts of Spatial Extend and Site Location on Calibration of Urban Growth Models
During the last decades, cities in sub-saharan Africa have undergone rapid urban growth due to increased population growth and high economic activities. This research explores the impacts of varying modelling settings including spatial extend and its location for the city of Nairobi using a cellular automata (CA) urban growth model (UGM). Our UGM used multi-temporal satellite-based data for cla...
متن کاملA Planning Tool for Simulating Urban Growth Process and Spatial Strategy of Urban Development in Chuandong, China
This century is marked by rapid urbanization. Some statistics predict that the world’s urban population will reach five billion by 2030 (United Nations 2007). This rapid urbanization not only has resulted in expanded land-use, but also has led to population increases in urban areas and development-related environmental impacts. Researchers, therefore, have begun to be concerned about the relati...
